This project pilots a novel design studio pedagogical model that applies social research methods in the context of a traditional design studio. The project synergizes transdisciplinary methodologies germane to social sciences with a design studio in order to produce informed, actionable responses to climate change. Students form connections with local communities, which informs their efforts and provides an outlet for disseminating their results. Students will be empowered to individually identify a localized impact of climate change, develop a robust method of inquiry, and challenged to present a unique and rational actionable response. Throughout the process, students will be supported with fundamental methodological lecture content (from the instructor or other disciplinary experts) as needed.
