Discovery Grant Recipient

Assistant Professor of Art, Penn State School of Visual Arts

Michael Collins joined the Penn State School of Visual Arts in 2012, initially teaching 3D animation and digital design. He is an advocate for open-source technology and is working towards making free access to knowledge easier with his latest collaboration on the OER Schema Project – in his words, “the project is a not-at-all boring implementation of pedagogical metadata making online learning content easily remixable.” He has designed a few things including furniture, websites, interfaces, drawings, animations, and online design curriculum for the Digital Multimedia Design program. His most recent exhibition work centers around digital privacy, identity, and security.
